pat retiring rn

by pat
(NYC)

It is now June 7,2012-Can any expat advise me on expat life in Phuket? How much funds do I need to bring? Is there an active expat community there?Health facilities?I was told I need $30,000 in US funds to live legally and permanently in Thailand-is this true?

Would there be a "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel"in Phuket?
Thanks-
Pat

Pat, No problem with $30,000 US in your account, but make sure you have some other type of cash flow, ie pension, SS or some type of sustainable cash flow.

Also depends upon what type of lifestyle you live. Healthcare is good here and very reasonable compared to the United States.

I am a retiree from the State of Michigan. I have healthcare through the State. Does the hospitals in Bhuket accept out of country healthcare plans?
