The finals of Mom Tri’s Boathouse Soccer tournament, part of the annual staff sport day, were watched by an unexpected, illustrious Boathouse guest, manager of the Thai National Soccer Team Bryan Robson.
Known for playing midfield for Manchester United, where he was the longest serving captain in club history, Bryan and his wife Denise just happened to enjoy a leisurely lunch at the Boathouse on 23rd September.
Robson was quickly spotted by avid soccer fans amongst the Boathouse staff. He graciously accepted the invitation to present trophies to the winners of the hotly contested staff soccer tournament.
Team ‘Kitchen United’ comprising chefs and kitchen hands and ‘FC Bahn Chang’ consisting of team members usually occupying positions in the Boathouse accounting and engineering departments, battled it out in a match on the sands of Kata Beach in front of the restaurant’s terrace.
Team ‘Kitchen United’ claimed a well deserved victory with a 3-0 score.
But all sides considered themselves winners when Robson kindly autographed the participants’ t-shirts and amiably posed for photos with the teams.
